Beschreibung:
As part of the World Family Doctor Day 2025 campaign, “Building Mental Resilience in a Changing World,” this webinar brings together two prominent leaders in the field of mental health in primary care: Dr. Chris Dowrick, Emeritus Professor of Primary Medical Care at the University of Liverpool and Past Chair of the WONCA Working Party on Mental Health, and Professor Christos Lionis, Professor of General Practice and Primary Health Care at the University of Crete and Current Chair of the WONCA Working Party on Mental Health. Together, they lead a reflective exploration of three foundational pairings in the pursuit of mental resilience: • Suffering and Hope – the value of bearing witness to emotional pain while offering realistic, compassionate hope. • Coherence and Engagement – how finding meaning and purpose helps both patients and clinicians remain grounded and active. • Eudaemonia and Ataraxia – classical philosophical ideals that can inspire a life of purpose and tranquility, both in and beyond the clinic. A conversation between WONCA leaders who’ve spent their lives caring for others, and thinking deeply about mental health. An inquiry into the conceptual foundations of resilience, drawing on classical philosophy and contemporary frameworks. Grounded in lived experience and global insight, the conversation speaks to the heart of family medicine: how we sustain ourselves while helping others navigate suffering, complexity, and change. This session is part of a special WONCA webinar series marking World Family Doctor Day 2025, which highlights the essential role of primary health care in promoting mental wellness around the world.
